Watch our first installment to find out… What’s Up with Blended Learning?
Animated and voiced by Sean Haas.
Blended learning is an instructional method that integrates the traditional classroom with innovative technology, but it’s more than just technology-rich instruction. According to the Clayton Christensen Institute for Disruptive Innovation, blended learning is defined as a formal education program with three key attributes:
- One, students learn, at least in part, through online learning, with some element of control over the time, place, path, and/or pace of their education.
- Two, students are, at least in part, supervised in a brick-and-mortar location away from home.
- And three, the modalities along each student’s learning path within a course or subject are connected to provide an integrated learning experience.
In other words, blended learning is an instructional method that that enables teachers to provide students with a more personalized learning experience. It leverages technology and the Internet as a way to enhance learning and promote understanding, while also putting students in the driver’s seat when it comes to their education.
